Restoration: How We Do It - Facade Top

Facade Top 1

The facade top before restoration shows peeling
paint and a rotting window frame of a newer
window. Note the lack of ornamentation.
Facade Top 2

The eaves stripped back to the original redwood. Siding on this portion of the house remains untouched because it will be covered with a new shingle pattern.
Facade Top 3

Plaster egg and dart molding before priming and installation.
Facade Top 4

The facade top during gold leafing of egg and dart molding. We added the lion's head to create a focal point above the window and balance the design of the house.
Facade Top 5

The completed facade top. In addition to the egg and dart molding and the lion's head, we rebuilt the window to match the original windows on the rest of the house and designed and installed a shingle pattern. These additions transform the facade top into a beautiful and ornate element that unites the entire front of the home into a single balanced impression.
